George Gilbert originally enlisted in the Cameron Highlanders at Inverness on the 13th October 1891 when he was aged 18

Joined the Reserve at Derby on the 10th October 1903, and gave his address as 98, Stockbrook Street, Derby, and then discharged on the termination of his engagement on the 11th October 1907
Discharged at the Cameron Highlanders Depot in Perth on the 22nd December 1917 as no longer physically fit for war service due to arterio-sclerosis
